Race Bank offshore windfarm off the North Norfolk coast officially opened on Wednesday 13 June. The 573MW project consists of 91 Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines. The project is 50% owned by Ørsted and part-owned by three investment firms. The windfarm also features a new offshore maintenance method, which uses a Service Operation Vessel (SOV) that remains offshore with technicians working shifts of 14 days on and 14 days off. Managing Director at project co-owner Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets David Tilstone said: “The delivery of this landmark project has set new standards for construction safety and speed and marks a significant milestone in the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy.”
