BEIS announced its plans to fund selected UK-based demonstration projects, alongside the Canadian government which will fund demonstration projects located in Canada as part of a joint challenge. In the Thursday 20 June announcement, BEIS said project teams must involve organisations from both countries in order to receive a funding contribution of up to £1.8mn per project for those located in the UK. Projects include a platform which enables electricity data democratisation through interoperability; a transactive energy management system in the UK to deliver cost efficiency energy to the wider consumer; and the development of an innovative energy management automation tool for non-domestic users to increase the efficiency of buildings to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions.
