BEIS has said that it will be increasing funding for carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) projects from £15mn to £24mn. In an announcement on Tuesday 12 February, BEIS explained that the increase comes in response to a review in January and the number of strong applications received to apply for funding. The Call for CCUS Innovation was originally launched on 31 July 2018 to offer funding for projects which lead to a significant reduction in the cost of capturing and sequestering carbon and/ or a quicker, more widespread deployment of CCUS in the UK and internationally. Project funding will be available for up to 24 months, with projects finishing by 31 March 2021.
