Electricity North West (ENW) announced that it has awarded £71,000 in grants to community energy projects across Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. In the Friday 1 March announcement, ENW said the projects concern: an investigation to bring a hydro scheme into community ownership; a new user-led approach to deliver energy efficiency measures to households, particularly those in fuel poverty; and a project looking at developing the business case for community-owned energy assets to supply a new housing development. ENW launched its Community Energy Scheme in June 2018 to create new mechanisms for community and local energy groups to search for locations on its network where community and local energy can be deployed for multiple benefits.
