Solar capacity in Europe is predicted to increase by 42.1% in 2019, from 9.5GW to 13.5GW, according to solar PV supply chain research company PV Info Link. The company said on 30 November that the fall in China’s share of installed solar capacity following its decision to reduce solar subsidies would occur alongside an increase in capacity in Europe. Sun Investment Group commented on the news on Friday 4 January in a press release: “Given 2018’s shift in attitudes towards renewables from even the most coal-friendly countries in Europe and the removal of tariffs on Chinese solar panels, investments in solar energy and renewables in general will become more attractive than ever for investors in 2019.”
