The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is to launch a new £15mn loan programme in a bid to accelerate the roll out of emerging clean technologies. The programme, which is backed by funding from the European Regional Development Fund, aims to make it easier for property and infrastructure developers to incorporate renewables as part of their projects. The Greater Manchester Low Carbon Fund plans to support projects that would not usually attract traditional commercial finance because of the relatively new technology involved. It will also support projects that would be improved through the fund’s expertise. The loans will then be repaid over 15 years, before proceeds go towards further green projects across the region.
