BEIS has announced £1.2mn of grant funding for six organisations working on energy efficiency supply chain projects at a local level. Announced on Thursday 7 February, the fund comes in response to a government review of the energy efficiency market, which identified both the demand and supply side barriers to market growth. BEIS said: “Whilst separate policies are being pursued to stimulate consumer demand, these pilots will aim to address supply side barriers and reduce the frictions and challenges that prevent consumers following through with energy retrofit projects.” Successful projects include a community-based social marketing model to raise awareness of retrofitting and an app that allows tradespeople to easily make referrals for energy efficiency measures.
