Aura has secured European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) money to build a renewable energy innovation centre at Bridgehead near Hull. The £4mn ERDF funding for the Aura Innovation Centre (AIC) was announced on Thursday 26 April and is in addition to £2.5mn from Green Port Hull and £5.5mn from the University of Hull. AIC aims to drive innovation in low carbon energy through enabling business collaboration, says the renewable energy developer. University of Hull Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, Dr David Richards said: “Part of the industry’s vision is to create clusters, much like the activity here in this region, which will bring growth not only to the sector but to other industries.” Construction on the project is expected to begin towards the end of the year and be completed by the end of 2019.
