Piclo’s pioneering smart energy platform has been used at commercial scale for the first time in UKPN’s recent flexibility auction, contracting 18.2MW in its distribution network. Published on Thursday 4 July, contracts have been signed with AMP Clean Energy, Limejump, Powervault and Moixa to deliver 18.1MW of flexibility. It is Piclo’s second commercial agreement following the signing of SSEN, announced in March. The platform delivers a heat-map of areas of network congestion and correlates them with flexibility providers including demand-side-response, batteries and behind-the-meter generation which will be leveraged to minimise bottlenecks within the network and costs to the consumer, whilst maximising the flexible, low-carbon plant in the mix.
