The Swansea Tidal Lagoon project is “not dead”, Swansea Council has claimed, following the launch of a bid for private sector partners to finance the project, which was rejected in June by the UK government. As reported in the BBC on Tuesday 4 December, the council now envisages the project just for Swansea and not to form a network of lagoons around the coast, as originally put forward by Tidal Lagoon Power. Swansea Council Leader Rob Stewart said that the project would now have no involvement from the UK government, adding: “We are well into the procurement to secure new partners to deliver it and expect to announce further details in the next couple of weeks.”
