The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced £25mn in funding for 22 innovative projects concerning zero emissions transport. Announced on 15 May, the investment is part of the government’s Industrial Strategy. One project aims to develop electric motorcycle technology for lowering vehicle emissions and noise, with faster battery charge times and making electric motorcycles attractive to the market. Other winning projects include a feasibility study into the potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology as a zero emission solution for utility and off-road vehicles, and a research and development project to replace metals with new materials using recycled carbon fibres from aviation waste.
