The Department for Transport (DfT) published its Future of mobility: urban strategy on Tuesday 19 March, setting out the government’s plans for the future. The DfT said it would be initiating four new areas of focus for its planned regulatory review: micromobility vehicles, and how to trial them; mobility as a service; transport data; and modernising bus, taxis and private hire vehicles legislation. The DfT also said it would launch four Future Mobility Zones with £90mn of funding, incentivise the sharing and harnessing of transport data through the creation of platforms and standards, and would publish guidance to support local decision-making concerning urban planning and future mobility.
