Greentech entrepreneur and founder of OVO Energy Stephen Fitzpatrick has launched the ZeroC campaign, calling on the next Prime Minister to introduce a General Carbon Charge ahead of next year’s COP26, alongside a “framework to support and accelerate the transition.”

In the 9 July announcement, Fitzpatrick said the charge would encourage the early adoption of the lowest cost solutions; allow individual choice while encouraging a change in consumer behaviour; and ensure that the transition does not “unfairly impact the less well off.”

The campaign will also see Fitzpatrick invest £1mn.
