Tesco’s Annual Report and Financial Statements 2019 revealed that its energy efficiency efforts delivered between 2015-16 and 2017-18 delivered £37m in savings, with 58% of its electricity in 2018-19 sourced from 100% renewable sources. Published on Tuesday 14 May, the report said the company’s net carbon footprint in 2018-19 was 3.3mn tonnes. For absolute carbon emissions, Tesco achieved a 9% reduction compared to last year and 31% compared to 2015-16. The business is also set to roll out over 2,400 electric vehicle (EV) charging bays across 600 Tesco stores within the next three years as part of the largest UK retail electric vehicle charging network.
